Borough sustained a poor defeat in a game that they never really got going in, to many lapses of concentration, poor passing and desire were clearly evident as Electric grew more and more in confidence, ultimately they deserved their win and it will act as a sharp wake up call to the Reserves.

The game got off to a patient start with Borough knocking the ball round well, GUNN scuffed a shot in the 4th minute when well placed. Porter lifted a shot over in the 9th minute when put through by HAMPTON-BROWN. The first signs of Borough’s poor concentration came on 16 minutes when possession was gifted, luckily the resulting shot went wide.

Borough’s play as the half wore on became more dis-jointed as Electric sensed that they could get something from the game and started to attack more, causing problems for the home defence. GUNN again failed to connect to a HEBDON header back across the goal from a corner in the 38th minute, with minutes to go until the half time a ball was played into an Electric forward who was allowed to hold it, turn with it and score with 4 Borough players around him 0-1

HALF-TIME PBFC 0-1 BER

To say the Borough players were given a half time rocket is an understatement as they started the second half a lot more positively and within 2 minutes they were level when a flowing move involving SQUIRE & MOLYNEAUX saw the latter’s cross find PORTER to score 1-1

To many in attendance this should of signalled Boroughs intent to go on and win the game alas within a minute a team collective lack of concentration allowed Electric to cut straight through and restore their lead 1-2

This clearly rattled the home side as individuals started to hide and blame others for the lack of cohesion evident, it came as no surprise when following an Electric corner in the 54th minute they increased their lead when the corner was not cleared properly, the ball fell to their forward to slam home 1-3

Borough now had a self made mountain to climb and they did pull a goal back in the 65th minute when a ball into SQUIRE saw a well taken finish 2-3

GUNN should of equallised in the 71st minute, however after beating the off side trap he managed to hit the post when 1 on 1, the rebound was bundled away, this just about summed the day up !!!!! further chances fell to PORTER whose efforts were either blocked or ended up wide.

Giles was understandably unhappy with the performance shown by the reserves and has further challenged them to individually look at their own performance and ask “What more could/should I have done ???” Too many players were quick to criticise others and that must stop, that said this defeat should act as a big wake up call, sides in this division will battle hard and if they are allowed, they can hurt you. Giles will be expecting his players to react positively next week and if they are not prepared to give 110% effort and commitment for the full 90 minutes then changes will be made !!!!!
